Children in the Women's and Children's Shelter of the Districts of Ammerland and Wesermarsch

The children are just as affected by domestic abuse as their mothers. The Women's and Children's Shelter therefore offers   children the opportunity to experience relief. They are given a safe space to discuss and deal with their experiences.

In principle, it is also possible to admit boys 14 years of age or older, as long as the basic rules of protection and non-violence are respected for the residents.

Age-appropriate individual and group activities are encouraged and will enable children to experience a non-violent and stable everyday life. Individual and group activities are of course adapted to fit the needs of the children’s independent wishes and concerns.

The children are offered their own care and leisure activities both inside and outside the Women's and Children's Shelter.

Attendance at day care centres and/or schools is supported by the staff.
